NetDragon Showcases at eLearning Africa 2026, Leveraging AI to Support Autonomous Digital Education

From June 3 to 5, the 2026 eLearning Africa conference was held in Accra, the capital of Ghana. As an active participant in the global digital education sector, NetDragon was invited to showcase at the event. Representatives from African countries and the global education community gathered together. Chen Changjie, Vice President of NetDragon, represented the company at the opening ceremony and participated in multiple bilateral exchange meetings with African education authorities.

During the exhibition, NetDragon highlighted its AI capabilities and national-level platform service offerings, including the Open-Q platform, EduCore, and Promethean interactive displays. On June 4, NetDragon hosted a dedicated forum to discuss with delegates from various countries topics such as the autonomous development of digital education in Africa, AI governance, and new paradigms for resilient education.

eLearning Africa 2026 was co-hosted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Ghana, with UNESCO serving as a key partner. As the most influential conference and exhibition on digital education, technology-enabled learning, and skills development in Africa, the event was first established in 2005 and has now reached its 19th edition. This year's conference theme was "Africa's Time, Africa's Terms: Learning for Sovereignty, Strength and Solidarity," attracting over 1,000 participants from more than 80 countries. It featured over 80 thematic sessions, invited more than 250 speakers, and hosted multiple ministerial roundtables and high-level closed-door discussions, delving into how African countries can autonomously design, govern, and scale digital learning systems that truly serve local realities and long-term development needs.

Deepening China-Africa Education Cooperation, Co-Creating a Digital Education Blueprint

From June 3 to 5, the NetDragon team participated in multiple bilateral exchange meetings with African education authorities, engaging in discussions on the future of digital learning in Africa, education digitalization governance, AI capacity building, and national-level education platform cooperation. The team held in-depth talks and exchanges with ministers, vice ministers, and delegation members from more than ten countries, including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Cameroon, Namibia, Tanzania, Gabon, Morocco, and Togo, further expanding NetDragon's cooperation network in Africa's education digitalization landscape.

On June 4, NetDragon hosted a dedicated forum themed "Sovereign AI: Building a New Paradigm for Resilient Education in Africa." The forum explored how African countries can bridge the digital divide while enhancing their autonomous capabilities in education digitalization, data governance, and localized AI applications. It demonstrated how AI can empower educators and help learners under varying infrastructure conditions gain access to more sustainable and equitable educational opportunities.

The forum was moderated by Jon McDermott, Chief Development Officer for Emerging Markets. He skillfully guided discussions on topics including educational sovereignty, digital infrastructure, sovereign AI, and local capacity building in Africa, and facilitated the Q&A session.

Chen Changjie, Vice President of NetDragon, delivered a speech titled "From Education Digitalization to Digital Sovereignty," sharing NetDragon's strategic layout and practical experience in the global digital education field. Asha S. Kanwar, Chairperson of the Governing Board of the UNESCO IITE, provided important international perspectives, addressing topics from the viewpoints of young innovators, next-generation learners, and AI-empowered educational transformation.

NetDragon instructional expert Hatem Radwan shared practical approaches for deploying EduCore in low-bandwidth and offline environments to support digital teaching. Chen Hao (Michael Chen), NetDragon's Business Director, introduced the Open-Q platform and the application scenarios of sovereign AI in national-level education digitalization, demonstrating how cloud-based AI platforms can work in tandem with localized, offline-first educational infrastructure to address challenges such as connectivity gaps, data security, local content development, and cultural adaptation.

NetDragon has maintained ongoing cooperation in digital education with African countries including Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Cameroon. In 2020, Edmodo, NetDragon's global learning community, was selected by Ghana's Ministry of Education as the designated online learning platform for the country's K-12 education system, covering 9.3 million students and 450,000 teachers. In 2021, NetDragon signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ghana's Ministry of Education to provide a range of digital education solutions and services to support the Ministry's education digitalization goals.

In 2025, President Mahama of the Republic of Ghana made a special visit to NetDragon to learn about educational technology products and capabilities including AI courseware and the AI Production Center.

Building a Digital Education Ecosystem to Empower Localized Development

During the exhibition, NetDragon highlighted its core products including the Open-Q platform, EduCore, and Promethean interactive displays.

As an AI education platform designed for national-level education digitalization, Open-Q leverages NetDragon's self-developed AI Expert Model and AI Production Center capabilities to support large-scale, high-standard curriculum content production and localization adaptation. It can be deeply customized according to different countries' curriculum systems, cultural values, language environments, and educational goals, helping countries build sustainable digital education infrastructure.

Currently, Open-Q is actively involved in the top-level planning of Serbia's Ministry of Education's digital infrastructure, jointly advancing the construction of its national digital education platform. NetDragon aims to further extend this experience to more countries and regions, using sovereign AI to empower education digitalization and help countries establish sustainable educational digital assets and talent development ecosystems.

EduCore is an AI education infrastructure solution built by NetDragon for low-bandwidth and offline environments. It adopts an offline-first micro-cloud architecture, enabling AI capabilities and learning management systems within a classroom local area network without requiring a stable internet connection. Adhering to the "teacher-in-the-loop" principle, EduCore supports the transformation of daily teaching experience into accumulative and reusable national educational digital assets, helping more schools gain access to high-quality AI education capabilities at a lower cost.
