NetDragon-Built Metaverse Venue Stuns at 2022 GSE Conference, Steering Schools Toward a Digital Future Through Intelligence and Innovation

From August 18th through the 20th, over eight million folks from around the globe converged on Beijing, China for the 2022 Global Smart Education Conference (2022 GSE Conference). With the theme "Intelligent Technology and Digital Transformation in Education", the conference brought together top experts and scholars in the education field to discuss how high-tech solutions and digital transformations can best shape the future of learning. The event utilized a hybrid format with both in-person and online components to maximize participation from all corners of the world.

NetDragon Elernity, a major supporter of the conference, has now lent their assistance for seven years running. At this year's gathering, they co-hosted forums on "Digital Transformation and Smart Education" and "Education Metaverse and Teacher Education". NetDragon's subsidiary Taverse also got in on the action, designing a virtual venue within the metaverse to take the event to the next level.

Dr. Liu Dejian, who leads Beijing Normal University's Smart Learning Institute (SLI) while also serving as Chairman of NetDragon, wrapped up the event with his closing remarks. At the forum on "Education Metaverse and Teacher Education", Emil Chen - Vice President roles at both NetDragon and the SLI - kicked things off by welcoming everyone. Then Chen Hong, NetDragon's Senior VP and Elernity CTO, wowed the crowd with a keynote on merging education with emerging metaverse tech.

The conference was spearheaded by Beijing Normal University (BNU) partnering with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education. It was jointly organized by a lineup of BNU's research forces, including the SLI, Faculty of Education, China Institute of Education and Social Development, China Basic Education Quality Monitoring Collaborative Innovation Center, and National Engineering Laboratory for Cyberlearning and Intelligent Technology.

NetDragon Pledges to Shape Schooling's Future Through Building the Ed Metaverse and Exploring 'Ideal' Education Tech

Dr. Liu Dejian was on hand for the closing talks and tech forum. He told the crowd, "Through our research, we aim to boost learning worldwide while tackling global crises and harnessing the rapid rise of smart tech to envision the 'ideal' education system of the future."

As societal and workplace needs change along with how students want to learn and what they're after, technology has unlocked more flexible options. Liu said tools like an education metaverse could supercharge collaboration between people and machines. This helps students tailor their studies to their schedules and apply what they're picking up. With assists from AI-powered education gear, kids can get guidance whenever and wherever, tap into resources on their terms, focus on their areas of interest, and put their knowledge to use.

In his keynote, Chen Hong shone a light on the perks of an education metaverse through case studies and demos of tech they've developed. He believes game-based learning can spark students' curiosity while immersive environments deepen understanding. As AI advances, each student may have their own virtual mentor within the metaverse to personalize education anytime, anyplace.

Since entering education in 2010, NetDragon has worked to digitize lessons and resources while virtualizing the classroom experience. Now they're investing in deep reforms by co-developing a worldwide education metaverse integrating AR, VR, AI and big data with products like Future Lab, AI Courseware and Edmodo Classroom. This aims to seamlessly connect real and virtual teaching scenarios, allowing educators and learners to navigate between parallel spaces.

NetDragon's subsidiary Taverse provides partners with one-stop-shop "IP+" branding and traffic solutions. Leveraging in-house 3D engines and AI editing tools, they can quickly cook up digital avatars, virtual IP characters and 3D video bites. With their full-service model, firms can successfully monetize and promote their "IP+" creations.

NetDragon Spinoff Taverse Constructed Metaverse Venue, Expanding Virtual World Potential Through Pioneering Project

With the pandemic reshaping gatherings worldwide, the GSE Conference recently went hybrid to bridge participants virtually from far and wide. This year's metaverse venue was a major highlight - an innovative way to bring some 1.85 million folks together online. Attendees from different spots could bypass barriers through the internet, enter virtual conference halls inside the metaverse, and chat live using their custom avatars.

Compared to traditional events, the metaverse venue offered easy, accessible participation. All you needed was the conference app to sign up, log in and transport yourself to the virtual space. There, users could personalize their avatars down to the smallest details like facial features or accessories. You could even upload a photo for a more realistic look. Within the venue, simple buttons let you walk, jump and pivot cameras for a close look around.

NetDragon wasn't new to building products like this. Earlier in 2022, they partnered with Fujian Media Group on a "National Two Sessions Metaverse Interview" within just three months. A "Made in Fuzhou" metaverse meeting room enabled government reps in Beijing, on-site hosts, and citizens nationwide to gather virtually with smart gear.

The successful launch of the GSE Conference's metaverse venue blueprinted innovative conferencing strategies for this new tech era. NetDragon's two decades gaming plus over a decade learning tech expertise granted them solid 3D, VR, AR and AI foundations. They've heavily invested in artificial intelligence and introduced the metaverse sector this January. Empowering events is one of many ways NetDragon aims to shape real-world applications through cross-metaverse integration in the future. Stay tuned as they continue exploring emerging scenarios.
