NetDragon Hosts Major Forum on AIGC's Application and the Evolution of Design Fields

Industry leaders and academics convened in Beijing on June 9-10 for "The Era of AIGC Applications and Design Discipline Transformation" summit. The event was organized by the Network Technology and Intelligent Media Design Professional Committee of the Association of Fundamental Computing Education in Chinese Universities (hereinafter referred to as "the Committee") and the "Digital Media Art" Virtual Teaching and Research Office of the Ministry of Education, and co-hosted by the School of Animation and Digital Arts at Communication University of China and NetDragon Websoft Inc. It also served as the inaugural conference for the second council of the Committee.

Convening at NetDragon's headquarters, attendees included reps from juggernauts like Microsoft, Epic Games, NVIDIA and industry heavyweights like NetEase, Tencent Research Institute, Xiaomi, MEGVII, and Stability AI. Scholars from elite schools like Tsinghua, Tongji, Beihang, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Communication University of China also lent their expertise.

The high-level event incorporated an AIGC-focused symposium, a founding conference of the Committee council, workshops exploring practical AIGC applications, and a deep dive on digital culture building. Panels covered utilizing AI to boost productivity while maintaining quality, streamlining team dynamics, and addressing ethics and copyright challenges from AI-powered outputs.

Liu Jian, member of the Educational Work Committee of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, CPC member and Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education (at the level of Director), spoke at the summit on the profound impact of AIGC. He noted how this new design concept is reshaping fields like digital art, animation, gaming and filmmaking. By forming the Committee, Liu believes resources from academia and industry can be better leveraged to tear down barriers and promote deeper connections between industry, education, research and production. This collaborative approach, he said, will open doors to fresh ideas, methods and models that can help transform both the AI sector and higher education.

Huang Xinyuan, who leads the Association of Fundamental Computing Education in Chinese Universities, also serves as Party Secretary of the School of Animation and Digital Arts at Communication University of China. At the event, he provided context on the Association's history and the reasoning behind establishing the Committee. Huang applauded lead sponsor NetDragon for their strong corporate commitment to supporting innovative projects that can benefit society.

As President and Editor-in-Chief of Strait News, Huang Shaohe commented on how constant R&D, applications and upgrades in new technologies stem from positive interplay between industry, education and research. He hopes for even closer cooperation down the line in fields touching on digital humans, cultural tourism, government communication and business services.

In a striking keynote, NetDragon Chairman Dr. Liu Dejian addressed the summit using an AI avatar he controlled remotely. He stated that AIGC is propelling leaps ahead in design and innovation. By teaming humans with AI, we're entering a realm of boundless imaginative possibilities as innovations and aesthetics beyond anything dreamed become realities. As a tech company focused on applying emerging tech, NetDragon launched an all-staff training initiative at the top of the year with AIGC front and center. This education enhances staff understanding and use of AIGC, which already features widely across various R&D spheres for gaming and edtech—including game design, AI performance, virtual labs, digital humans and virtual anchors.

At the founding conference for the Committee council, Dr. Liu was appointed Honorary Chair of the organization. NetDragon VP Mo Junqi also received a leadership role as Deputy Chair.

Additionally, hands-on AIGC workshops helped attendees delve into innovative secrets for AI-driven content creation. Participants mastered core tools, techniques and applications. Workshop tracks covered generative technologies like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, assisting novices to quickly grasp basic AI artistry methods and amplify their creative output and quality.
