Tech Titan at UNESCO Meeting Proposes Bold New Vision for Global Learning's Future
The latest Board of Governors meeting for the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) recently took place in Paris. Among those gathering were scholars from around the globe as well as experts from UNESCO headquarters. Dr. Liu Dejian, Chairman of education giant NetDragon, also joined as the sole entrepreneurial member.

During roundtable discussions, Dr. Liu pushed for guides to help educators worldwide cope with emerging tech challenges in the classroom. And he suggested a collaborative online library of teaching methods and educational resources be built for global access.
Dr. Liu also put forth several innovative concepts aimed at boosting UNESCO IITE's efforts. Most ambitiously, he floated the idea of a virtual avatar spokesperson unfettered by borders or biases - one that could engage audiences worldwide in UNESCO IITE's core values and priorities. As a glimpse into education's tech-driven future, such a virtual being could vividly demonstrate the institute's pioneering edge.
UNESCO board members showed strong interest in Liu's concepts, noting virtual avatars' potential to reach more youth. They agreed such disruptive technology could transform how international bodies engage global stakeholders at conferences going forward. With leadership like Dr. Liu's at the table, UNESCO IITE is primed to reimagine educational development on a vast, virtual scale.

UNESCO IITE is one of the Category 1 educational and research institutes of United Nations focused on information technology in education. It works to spur innovative uses of tech that help achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) of quality schooling for all. In 2021, NetDragon formally became an IITE strategic partner - one step toward its goals of sustainable, equitable growth.
The IITE Board of Governors, comprising 11 members selected for excellence in their fields, saw Dr. Liu Dejian, NetDragon Chairman, voted onto its ranks in 2022 as the sole entrepreneur.
Also that year, NetDragon and IITE launched an online "E-Library for Teachers" to strengthen educator skills worldwide. By offering leading digital resources and AI-powered education solutions, they aim to empower high-quality, inclusive lessons.
Moving forward, under UN's guidance, NetDragon will sustain investment in deep education change. It will provide equal opportunities and support for teacher development everywhere. In this way, they can help fast-track the global shift to an increasingly digital, equitable model of learning for all.
